Air Canada, together with its regional airline subsidiary, Air Canada Jazz, provides scheduled and charter air transportation for passengers and cargo to more than 150 destinations and vacation packages to over 90 destinations. Air Canada has been ranked as the world's safest airline in an independent analysis of more than 500 airlines. In a 2002 survey of the world's most frequent air travellers, conducted by travel information publisher OAG, Air Canada was voted best airline in North America for the second time in three years, and Air Canada's frequent flier program, Aeroplan, voted best in the world.

American Airlines is the world's largest carrier. Together with the American Eagle and AmericanConnection regional carriers, the American Airlines network serves more than 250 cities in 41 countries and territories with approximately 4,400 daily flights. The combined American Airlines network fleet numbers more than 1,100 aircraft. Only American provides More Room Throughout Coach for More Coach Passengers. American Airlines is a founding member of the oneworld alliance.

United, a founding member of Star Alliance, offers flights to 117 destinations in 26 countries, and two U.S. territories. United also offers a network of connecting flights through its marketing arrangements with three regional U.S. carriers operating under the brand name of United Express. United offers approximately 1,800 scheduled daily departures and flies more than 172,787 passengers each day. In 2001, United carried more than 75 million passengers.

Lufthansa is one of the ten largest airlines in the world. In terms of passenger numbers on international scheduled flights, it occupies second position in the world ranking. The Lufthansa story began in 1926, with its founding in Berlin. This chapter was brought to a close in 1945 with the end of the Second World War. Eight years later the new company, Lufthansa German Airlines, was founded in Cologne in 1953.

British Airways is the world's biggest international airline, carrying more passengers from one country to another than any of its competitors. Also, one of the world's longest established airlines, it has always been regarded as an industry-leader. British Airways' worldwide route network covers some 566 destinations in 133 countries. Last year, more than 44 million people chose to fly on the 499,000 flights that it operated. That's the equivalent of 80 passengers checking in every minute around the clock, and a British Airways flight taking off or landing every 60 seconds
